Tax Returns 2025: Which 18-year-olds must file and who are exempt

This year, many 18-year-olds will be asked to file a tax return for the first time. If you belong to the following categories, submission is mandatory:


✅ You earned income in 2024 (salary, benefits, rent, agricultural or business profits).

✅ You reside in your own home (owned or freely granted).

✅ You have assets (car, boat, etc.).

✅ You founded a business or started a freelance profession.

✅ You are married.

Who are exempt?

❌ Those who had no income and are hosted by parents, relatives or friends.

❌ Students who rent a house due to studies.

A VAT number and Taxisnet codes are required for submission. Get informed in time to avoid fines!
