Changes to Child Benefit A21 from May 📢
06 March, 2026 10:16

Two significant changes are coming to the A21 Child Benefit starting in May, with new calculation criteria and stricter checks that may affect the amounts received by beneficiaries.
🔎 New Calculation Basis from the 3rd Instalment
The first major change concerns the calculation of the third bimonthly instalment (May–June), which is paid at the end of July.
- The first two payments are calculated based on 2024 income.
- From the third instalment onwards, 2025 tax year income will be taken into account.
👉 This means that parents and guardians will need to have submitted their tax return on time during spring and summer, in order to avoid delays or changes in the amount they are entitled to receive.
🗂️ Unified Digital Benefits Registry
The second change concerns the full activation of a unified digital registry of benefits and allowances by the summer of 2026. This new database will consolidate all benefits and financial aids granted by OPEKA and other competent bodies, with the aim of:
- ✔️ Greater transparency
- ✔️ Better cross-referencing of data
- ✔️ More accurate payment of benefits
🖥️ Platform Deadline
The online platform has been open since February 27 and will remain available until Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
