

The submission of electronic applications for the student housing allowance for the academic year 2024–2025 has begun, with a closing date of Wednesday, July 31, 2025 .
According to the Ministry of Education, starting this year, new conditions apply for renting a residence:
🔹 The lease must concern a property located within the same Regional Unit as the seat of the student's university department, but outside of his or her main residence .
🔹 In the case of Thessaloniki , the entire urban complex – including areas up to 20 km from the center – is considered as one city.
🔹 Correspondingly, in the prefecture of Attica , only the mainland area within 40 km from the center of Athens is considered a city. Leases must concern properties within these boundaries .

The Ministry of Education announces investments for the construction or renovation of student residences through Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), totaling 738 million euros , as follows:
🔸 University of Crete – €255 million
• 710 beds in Rethymno
• 136 beds in Heraklion
🔸 Democritus University of Thrace – €133.1 million
• 350 beds in Alexandroupoli
• 350 beds in Komotini
🔸 University of Thessaly – €116.7 million
• 640 beds in Volos
• 123 beds in Lamia
🔸 University of Western Macedonia – €105.3 million
• 350 beds in Kozani
• 150 beds in Florina
• 150 beds in Kastoria
• 100 beds in Ptolemaida
🔸 University of West Attica – €82 million
• 100 beds in the Municipality of Fyli (Upper & Lower Lake)
🔸 National Technical University of Athens – €45.3 million
• Renovation of old student dormitory – 450 beds
