Professionals: Last chance to choose an insurance category

🗓️ Margin until January 31 they have thousands unemployed, freelancers, self-employed and farmers to make a crucial decision that will bind them for the entire 2026 : the choice insurance category .

📌 According to the relevant decision of EFKA , after the deadline the choice is "locked" for the entire year. Those who do not make a choice will automatically remain in the same category as the 2025 .

📈 Mild contribution increases for 2026

Regarding this year's insurance contributions, everything indicates that there will be a small increase, estimated at approximately 2.5% , a percentage linked to the average annual inflation .

In any case, the increase translates into additional monthly costs, which vary depending on the insurance category. For example, in 1st insurance category of freelancers, where today a total amount is paid €254.65 per month, with a 2.5% increase, the amount is set at €261.02 . That is, the insured will pay €6.37 more each month or approximately €76 on an annual basis.

In 2nd category , monthly contributions increase to €311.18 , while in 3rd category the amount increases €370.89 . The higher the category, the greater the absolute increase: in 6th category and above , contributions are estimated to reach €686.12 per month.

🏛️ The relevant certification from the Ministry of Labor is expected by the end of January, however the amounts are considered to be largely prescribed .

📊 This is about 4th consecutive increase contributions for the self-employed, with the cumulative burden 2023–2026 to reach the 18.35% .
