Professionals: Last chance to choose an insurance category

🗓️ Non-salaried individuals, freelancers, self-employed, and farmers have until January 31st to make a critical decision that will bind them for the entire 2026: the choice of their insurance category.

📌 According to the relevant decision of EFKA, after the deadline, the choice "locks in" for the entire year. Those who do not make a selection will automatically remain in the same category as in 2025.

📈 Slight increases in contributions for 2026

Regarding this year's insurance contributions, all indications are that there will be a small increase, estimated at approximately 2.5%, a percentage linked to the average annual inflation.

In any case, the increase translates into an additional monthly cost, which varies depending on the insurance category. For example, in the 1st insurance category for freelancers, where a total of €254.65 is currently paid monthly, with a 2.5% increase, the amount will be €261.02. This means the insured person will pay €6.37 more each month, or approximately €76 annually.

In the 2nd category, monthly contributions rise to €311.18, while in the 3rd category, the amount increases to €370.89. The higher the category, the greater the absolute increase: in the 6th and highest category, contributions are estimated to reach €686.12 per month.

🏛️ The relevant corroborating act from the Ministry of Labour is expected by the end of January, however, the amounts are largely considered predetermined.

📊 This is the 4th consecutive increase in contributions for non-salaried individuals, with the cumulative burden from 2023–2026 reaching 18.35%.
