During a period of rising rents, the Housing Assistance Benefit for Uninsured Elderly is being implemented — a financial aid that can reach up to €362 per month.

It is aimed at:
👵 Uninsured citizens over the age of 67
🏡 Who are renting their primary residence
❌ And are not receiving a pension

✅ Who is eligible for the benefit

Single uninsured elderly individuals over 67 who are renting their primary residence
Couples of uninsured individuals (married or in a civil partnership), provided that at least one of them has turned 67

📊 Age & Income Criteria

✔️ Age: 67 years old
✔️ Annual income up to:

€4,320 for a single person
€8,640 for a couple

All amounts are counted toward income (taxable, exempt, actual, or imputed).

🏦 Insurance Conditions

Eligible recipients:
❌ Must not be receiving a pension from any Greek or foreign body
❌ Must not be employed — neither themselves nor their spouse

🏠 Property Criteria

To receive the benefit:

❌ Must not hold full ownership or usufruct of a residence
❌ Must not have transferred property after 2020 (parental provision or donation)
❌ The residence must not have been granted for free use prior to the application

💳 Savings up to:

€7,000 for an individual
€10,500 for a couple

👥 Social & Residency Criteria

Applicants:

❌ Must not be hosting third parties (with exceptions for minor relatives or people with disabilities)
❌ Must not be residing in a closed-care facility.

Must have been legally and permanently residing in Greece for the last 12 years
